Splendid Buttermas! – Buttermás Day 1

I can hardly believe it’s here! I’ve been waiting all year, looking forward to it. Dreaming about it. Imagine exactly how it will feel, and smell, and taste! It’s Buttermas! *

As excited as I am, I would be remiss if I didn’t take some time out today for The Thanking of All Ruminants.

Cows, goats, sheep, deer, antelope, yaks, giraffes, sheep – there are over 150 species of ruminants in the world today, and their steady, thoughtful and selfless chewing is the reason we have butter. Without ruminants, there’d be no 100% grass-fed milk, and without that milk there’d be no butter.

Have you hugged a gazelle today? Are you planning to? You should.

They’re hard-working and loathe to complain, but the fact is, all ruminants enjoy a break now and then. So, as the winter draws close and the grasses begin to thin out, here’s a way to give them a little break:

Our Milk-Free blend substitutes Organic Powdered Coconut Milk for our Grass-Fed Powdered Goats Milk (it still has ghee, or clarified butter, in it. I said “a little break”, not “a total break.”)

If you don’t like the taste of goat milk, avoid milk entirely, or just want a nice change from regular fatCoffee, this is a great alternative.

The goats will appreciate it, too.

Buttermas (or, as they say in Spanish, Buttermás – which, loosely-translated means, “more butter”) is an ancient holiday tradition which just so happens to straddle American Thanksgiving. It begins on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and ends on the Friday after, encompassing one full week of rich, thick, buttery goodness.
