Our family began volunteering at Cradles to Crayons here in Philadelphia when the kids started homeschooling in December. We LOVE C2C, but one of the first things Claudia noticed when she was sorting donation items for children was that there were very few black dolls, and very few sets of pajamas (which must be new to be donated).
She talked about going on a shopping spree to specifically get a number of those items for Cradles to Crayons. She was, at the same time, working on a drawing of the goddess Athena, to have printed on a dress for herself. She decided to draw Athena as a Black woman, and we then realized that we could use our letterpress to do a limited edition of this beautiful drawing — so that Claudia could raise money for her Cradles to Crayons shopping spree!
The prints are printed on heavy 11X17″ paper, by the artist, titled, signed and numbered. They are $25 (includes shipping). All proceeds will go directly to Claudia’s choosing and purchase of dolls of color, and new sets of pajamas (spring/summer weight), for girls in the Philadelphia area.
